On Friday, my internship mentor and I teamed up to try and solder together mini XLR connectors for the new choir microphones. We were successful with soldering but ran into trouble when, after double and triple-checking our soldering, connector, physical connection to the board, and cable, we were unable to get signal from the microphones to the mixing console. After hours of troubleshooting, we sat down and came up with a plan and a way to connect the microphones to the mixing console, but we could not move forward with that plan this week due to having to order parts.
For Sunday services this week, I was tasked with operating the cameras and the camera switcher. I did this for both services, but I also helped set up and tear down microphones and help some of the sound team members with learning the new digital mixing console.
